Pantaloons Femina Miss India South 2011



  








  HYDERBAD witnessed its most beautiful evening with the grand finale of Pantaloons Femina Miss India South 2011 at a glittering star-studded ceremony at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Novotel. 


After the  two consecutive success of  karnatka  in 2009 n 2010 the fourth title went to 
tamil nadu   by shweta dolli .

Shweta Dolli emerged as the winner of the Pantaloons Femina Miss India South 2011 and was clearly in a rush of emotion when we caught up with her. "I am simply dying to tell my family about my win right now," said the gorgeous Chennai-based model. She agrees that the crown comes with a lot of responsibilities, "I'll do my best to meet the expectations." PFMI South 2011 First Runner up Apoorva Mittra says, "I am going to give my best and see where life takes me from this juncture." All three girls agree that the training session was a life changing experience for them. They had to go through tedious fitness and nutrition sessions, followed by diction and wellness workshops. "It took a lot of hard work and discipline to be here and I am glad I made it," said Apoorva, who also hails from Chennai. PFMIS 2011 Second Runner Up Nidhi Sunil was ecstatic, "I am so happy that this long journey was fruitful and my hard work paid off." Ask her what is the first thing she wants to do, and she confesses, "I want to sink my teeth into a scrumptious dessert right now! We have been deprived of all such things for so long now." 

The gala evening started with hosts Siddharth Kannan and the lovely Nethra Raghuraman welcoming the audience. The stunning contestants were introduced to the audience as they confidently walked the ramp, choreographed by Marc Robinson, Contestant Director and Fashion Director for PFMI 2011. The 12 finalists presented a collection by title sponsors Pantaloons. Keeping up with current fashion trends and capturing the spirit of today's Indian woman, Pantaloons created an Indo-western fusion of kurtis in Indian prints and jeggings for the girls. Contestants dazzled in accessories by Zuni. 

This year, the PFMI South 2011 Finale saw southern stars Pia Bajpai, Kamna Jethmalani, Ragini Dwivedi, Laxmi Rai, Charmee, Baba Sehgal, all looking their glamorous best, enthrall the audience with their performances through the evening. 

The panel of judges comprised southern siren Shriya Saran, crossover cinema actress Lakshmi Manchu, young superstar of southern cinema Rana Daggubatti, fashion designer Manoviraj Khosla and 'Femina' Editor Tanya Chaitanya. 

The evening also held an air of proud celebration when the newly crowned Miss Earth 2010 Nicole Faria was felicitated on stage by Marc Robinson. The south pageant is where it all began for Nicole who was crowned PFMIS 2010, thereon she went on to win the Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2010 and the Miss Earth 2010 pageant in Vietnam. 

Round 2 saw the girls in cocktail dresses from the collection titled 'MURANO' by Vivek Karunakaran created especially for PFMIS 2011. The collection, in an ornate palette of crimson and aubergine, was inspired by the isolated islands of Murano linked by bridges in the Venetian Lagoon. 

The finalists also captured tradition and culture of the south in resplendent saris in Round 3. These saris by RMKV Wedding Silks were inspired by a variety of interesting themes such as palaces of Travancore, paintings of Raja Ravi Varma and natural dyes bringing alive artistic tradition of Mohenjo-daro and Harrapa. 
The last round saw the contestants look ravishing and elegant in a collection of evening gowns by Arabella designed by Varadha Rajan and styled by Prasad Bidappa, The collection included a wide range of silk, taffeta, chiffon and tulle ensembles that enhanced the beauty and sophistication of every contestant. Contestants wore stunning jewellery from Azira by Kapil Bulchand. 

The 12 finalists were then shortlisted to top five and had to face the question and answer round by the judges. The PFMIS 2011 winners were crowned by Nicole Faria, PFMIS 2010, Pantaloons Femina Miss India Earth 2010 and the reigning Miss Earth 2010, Krithika Babu, PFMIS 2010 First Runner Up and Pooja Hegde, PFMIS 2010 Second Runner Up. The winner of PFMIS 2011 gets direct entry into the top 10 stage at the main pageant, PFMI 2011. 

The daunting task of preparing these 12 young women to achieve their aspirations was accomplished by a list of experts renowned in their field: Marc Robinson— Fashion Director and Contestant Director, Mickey Mehta — leading Holistic Health and Fitness Guru, Prasad Bidappa —Contestant Advisor, Jitu Savlani—fashion photographer, Dr Purnima Mhatre —Wellness Expert, Naini Setalvad— Official Nutritionist, Rama Vaidyanathan— Diction Expert and Alesia Raut — Ramp Walk Trainer. 

Fashion styling for the south pageant was done by stylist Nidhi Jacob. The girls have looked lovely throughout the pageant courtesy hair and makeup by Bharat and Dorris. Hair and make up for the grand finale was done by Vipul Bhagat.

"I was focusing to see if the girls were international material as I wanted to make sure they could represent India internationally. The girls were all very talented. I am very happy with the end result. The show was quite incredible."

The South has always delivered fabulous talent in fashion,films and lifestyle. The contestants at PFMI South 2011 were a potent mix of beauty, brains and confidence. The three winners have excellent potential and should use the title to further their careers and compete for the main pageant.
